faq

1.

How much is my personal injury case worth?

The value of your case depends on your medical bills, lost income, and how serious the other driver’s fault was. No lawyer can give you a real number on day one — anyone who does is estimating. We look at your actual situation first.
2.

What is the time limit to file in California?

You have 2 years to file a claim. If you're suing a city or county — 6 months. It may sound like a long time, but it isn’t. People miss it every year, and when they do, the case is lost.
3.

Do I really need a lawyer?

It’s not required. But the insurance adjuster calling you is trained to protect the company’s interests. Their job is to close your claim for as little as possible. Having someone on your side can make a real difference.
4.

How long will my case take?

Minor injuries, clear fault — maybe 6 months. Broken bones, surgery, disputed liability — closer to 2 years. In practice, it often depends on how long your recovery takes. It’s usually best not to settle until you understand the full impact of your injuries.
5.

Should I take the first settlement offer?

Usually not. Early offers are often made before the full value of a case is clear. Once you accept, the case is closed permanently. It’s a good idea to have a lawyer review any offer before you sign.
6.

What do I do right after a crash?

Call 911. Take photos of everything — both cars, the street, your injuries. Get the other driver’s info. Avoid making statements about fault at the scene. Then see a doctor the same day, even if nothing hurts yet.
7.

What if I was partly at fault?

You can still file. California follows a comparative fault rule. If you're 30% at fault, you may still recover 70%. Many people don’t realize this and assume they have no case.
8.

How long does a settlement take?

Once your treatment is done — usually 2 to 5 months to negotiate and close. If the insurer disputes the claim, it can take longer. We stay actively involved throughout the process.
9.

What does it cost to hire you?

Nothing upfront. We work on a contingency fee — our payment comes from the amount we recover for you, typically 33–40%. If there’s no recovery, there’s no legal fee.
10.

What cases do you handle in the Coachella Valley?

Car accidents on I-10, slip and falls at local hotels, dog bites, motorcycle accidents — we handle a wide range of personal injury cases in the area. We’re familiar with the local courts and insurers, which helps us navigate cases more effectively.
